Money isn't the issue here. People are the issue. The more pressing issues in world are, Global warming Melting of ice caps Pollution Coporate politics & politics Rich becoming richer and poor becoming poorer Diseases which we are trying to search for cure. These are some of the pressing issues in this world that can't be solved by money alone, it needs people and these becoming more harder as the day passes by. I know the story of how model 3 got it's name. Elon wanted to name his fleet “SEXY”. As he a already has the model S, X, and is working on Y. The model E's name was captured by Ford particularly to piss off Elon. Since, this happened Elon had replaced by the number 3 instead of the letter E which gets him a mirror image of what he wants. There has been even some telephonic conversations between Tesla and Ford, Elon personally, involving himself in this situation. Where Elon asks them are they really going to do this model or they are actually doing this to piss him off. I think Dubai's colonizing plan of 2117 is achievable and I think technology would catch up soon enough to reach that target. However, if companies like SpaceX ( which is also the only contender in this space)do it before itself it will be great. It would great seeing the combination of technology and cash coming together if SpaceX reaches there first and the thing is they both work in tandem to achieve 2117 Mars mission. I think it's an “optimistic” move and like the falcon rockets he's going to do it anyway. However, the timeline set very much appreciated and the inhibition is only only possible if he achieves his 2024 goal of travelling to Mars in the first place. If You Like This Article? It seems immeasurable, but the rest of the space industry has made space boring. The Russians, who dominate much of the business of sending people to space, do so with decades old equipment. The cramped Soyuz capsule that takes people to the space station has mechanical knobs and computer screens that appear unchanged from its inaugural 1966 flight. Countries new to the space race have mimicked the antiquated Russian and American equipment with maddening accuracy. When young people get into the aerospace industry, they're forced to either laugh or cry at the state of machines. Nothing sucks than working on a controlling mechanism which was last seen in a 1960s laundromat and the actual work environment is as outdated as the machines themselves. College grad have historically been forced to pick between a variety of slow moving military contractors and interesting but ineffectual start-ups. It should be noted that there are many people in the space industry who doubt reusable rockets will work, in large part because of the stress the machines and the metal go through during launch. It's not clear that the most prized customers will even consider the reused spacecraft for launches due to their inherent risks. This is a big reason that other countries and have not pursued the technology. There's a camp of space experts who think Musk is flat-out wasting his time, and that engineering calculation already prove the reusable rockets to be a fool's errand. The United States has remained competitive in the most lucrative parts of the space industry, building the actual satellites and complementary systems and services to run them. Each year, the United States makes about one-third of all satellites and takes about 60%of the global satellite revenue. The majority of this revenue comes from business done with the U.S. government. China, Europe, and Russia account for almost all of the remaining satellite sales and launches. It's expected that China's role in the space industry will increase, while two of its least-favoured nations in space matters and dining so without much leverage. SpaceX has metamorphosed from the joke of the aerospace industry into the most consistent operators. SpaceX sends a rocket up every month, carrying satellites for companies and nations and supplies to the international space station. SpaceX can undercut its U.S. competitors like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Orbital Sciences on a ridiculous margin. Where these  competitors rely on  Russian and  other  foreign  suppliers, SpaceX  makes  all  of its machines  from scratch in  the  United States. Because of its low costs, SpaceX has once again made the United States a player in the worldwide commerical launch market.
